Islamabad: Renowned senior Actress Bushra Ansari has advised Pakistani actresses that they should get married and have children during their careers.

Recently, Bushra Ansari participated in the program ‘The Talk Talk Show’, where she spoke openly about her career, marriage and women’s rights.

“I give the same advice to the actresses in the showbiz industry: get married and have children during their career. If you think that work will stop after the arrival of the child, then nothing will happen,” stated Bushra, adding that “apart from me, actresses Rubina Ashraf, Saba Hameed and other women like her also raised children along with their work.”

The legendary actress has been part of the showbiz industry since 1978 and has been ruling it for a long time. She has played many timeless roles and dramas on Pakistan Television (PTV).

Ansari opined that women should not be limited to only one job; they have a lot of potential if they want to do multiple jobs at a time.

Singer told that apart from working on the TV screen, I have also worked at home as a housewife, raised children as a mother, sent them to school, and cooked food. I did all the work that a normal woman does at home today.

Playwriter gave an example of her mother and mentioned that “My father was fond of music; my mother was a housewife but she had a good voice. My father removed my mother’s burqa and then taught classical music at home. Dad also made Amy sing two songs in his film.”

She further said that Ami did professional work along with housework; despite having five children, she also did embroidery, sewing and painting in addition to singing.

Veteran star said that girls sitting at home, if they cannot go out, can do a lot by staying at home as time should not be wasted.

Bushra also spoke openly about the rights of women. There are many rights for women in Islam, but some people neither want to read nor listen to it, she remarked.

While talking about a woman’s right to divorce, TV star further said that the right to divorce is unconditional which is in the marriage certificate, but people remove it.

Obviously, there is no happiness in using the right of divorce; no one wants someone’s house to be ruined. At the time of my marriage, I had the right to divorce so after 36 years of marriage, when I was forced to, I exercised this right, she added.

Bushra Ansari was married to Iqbal Ansari in 1978 and she got divorced in 2014.
