Dengue Cases Surge in Punjab with 97 New Infections

Lahore: Punjab is witnessing a troubling rise in dengue cases, with the Health Department reporting 97 new infections on Sunday. 

Rawalpindi remains the epicenter, accounting for 84 of the new cases, while Lahore and Sialkot recorded three cases each. Other districts, including Attock and Chakwal, reported two cases each, with one case each in Gujranwala, Sargodha, and Bahawalnagar.

Over the past week, a total of 826 new cases have been identified, bringing the cumulative count for 2024 to 4,217 in the province.

Health authorities have reassured the public that hospitals are fully stocked with medicines and essential resources to manage the outbreak effectively.

To combat the spread of the virus, the Health Department urges citizens to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings and eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes can breed. Officials emphasize the importance of public cooperation in ongoing efforts to prevent further transmission of dengue.

For assistance or to report dengue-related complaints, the Health Department has established a toll-free helpline at 1033. The department stresses the need for continuous vigilance as the province works to control the ongoing outbreak.
