X Remains Shut Down Despite Intermittent Restoration

News Desk

Islamabad: The shutdown of social platform X (formally Twitter) continues across Pakistan for the fifth consecutive day, with no statement issued by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) or the caretaker government.

Human rights and journalists’ organizations have strongly criticized the shutdown of X in the country. Internet service providers have also expressed regret over the losses incurred due to the platform’s closure.

The timing of the shutdown coincides with allegations of election rigging by Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatta (former), further raising concerns about the motives behind the action.

While X’s service has been intermittently restored in some cities, users have reported slow speeds and incomplete restoration in major cities like Lahore, Islamabad, and Karachi.
