Zalmi Defeated Kings After Enthralling Match

Islamabad: In the 29th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9, Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious over Karachi Kings by a narrow margin of 2 runs, in what turned out to be an enthralling match.
The match took place at the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi, where Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a target of 148 runs for Karachi Kings to chase within the allocated 20 overs.
In pursuit of the target, Karachi Kings managed to score 145 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their stipulated 20 overs.
Notable performances from Karachi Kings included Tim Seifert and Irfan Khan, who contributed 41 and 39 runs respectively. However, Karachi Kings’ captain Shaan Masood failed to score any runs, being dismissed by Saeem Ayub.
Senior players Shoaib Malik, James Vince, Anwar Ali, and Kieron Pollard were unable to make significant contributions, each getting out for just one run.
Peshawar Zalmi’s Naveen-ul-Haq claimed 2 wickets, while Luke Wood, Aamir Jamal, and Saeem Ayub took one wicket each.
Earlier, Babar Azam, leading Peshawar Zalmi, showcased yet another impressive performance by scoring a half-century, accumulating 51 runs.
Rowman Powell contributed 30 runs, Saim Ayub added 19 runs, and Mohammad Haris chipped in with 13 runs.
However, other batsmen such as Haseebullah and Tom Koehler Cadmore were dismissed for 1 and 9 runs respectively, while Aamir Jamal remained unbeaten with 8 runs.
Peshawar Zalmi concluded their innings with a total of 147 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the allocated 20 overs.
Babar Azam’s exceptional innings earned him the title of the Player of the Match.
With this victory, Karachi Kings ended their journey in the tournament, having been eliminated from the playoff stage.
