Women Break Barriers at Cholistan Desert Rally

Islamabad: The 20th International Cholistan Desert Rally is in full swing in Bahawalpur, transforming the vast desert into a high-octane battleground as 79 cars race across the dunes, thrilling spectators with their speed and skill. The event features separate races for men and women in the stock category.
Organized annually by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) since 2005, the Cholistan Desert Rally is South Asia’s premier motorsport event, drawing local and international competitors while boosting tourism in the region.
Participants are competing in various vehicle categories, catering to different skill levels and technical specifications.
“This rally highlights Pakistan’s natural beauty and hospitality, serving as a catalyst for tourism and economic growth,” said a TDCP official.
Another official emphasized the significance of female participation: “We are thrilled to see women taking part in the rally, showcasing their skills and breaking stereotypes.”
CEO of Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) added, “Supporting this event aligns with our vision to promote business and tourism in Punjab, creating new economic opportunities.”
Sharing her excitement, a female participant said, “Racing through the desert is an exhilarating experience! The thrill, combined with the breathtaking scenery, makes it unforgettable.”
Another female driver expressed pride in the event’s inclusivity: “This rally provides an incredible platform for women to demonstrate their driving skills and challenge societal norms. I am honored to be part of this empowering experience.”
