Shakargarh: An elderly woman died at the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Shakargarh after allegedly being administered a wrong injection by paramedical staff, according to a report aired by a private news channel on Monday.

The deceased woman’s son, Shehbaz, said he had brought his 75-year-old mother to the hospital’s emergency department after her health deteriorated due to diabetes. He claimed that his mother walked from the hospital parking area to the emergency room on her own.

According to the family, trainee paramedical staff administered an injection that was not appropriate for her condition, after which her health worsened and she died.

Following the incident, the woman’s heirs and relatives staged a protest at the hospital, demanding strict action against those responsible for the alleged negligence.

Hospital doctors, however, said the woman’s condition was critical when she was brought to the emergency department, noting that she was a diabetic patient and not in a stable state at the time of arrival.

Authorities have yet to announce whether an inquiry will be initiated into the incident.
