Islamabad: The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has indicated that the Shawwal moon is expected to be born at 6:23 am on March 19, suggesting that Muslims in Pakistan are likely to complete 30 days of fasting this year.

According to Suparco, the moon’s age at sunset on March 19 will be approximately 12 hours and 41 minutes, making the chances of sighting the crescent that evening relatively low.

As a result, Eid‑ul‑Fitr is expected to fall on March 21.

However, the final announcement regarding the sighting of the Shawwal moon will be made by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which holds the authority to confirm the start of the new Islamic month.
