What Did Ricky Ponting Predict About Steve Smith?

News Desk
Islamabad: Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting made a prediction regarding Steve Smith’s role in the upcoming cricket World Cup.
Speaking at the International Cricket Council (ICC) Review, Ponting stated that while it would be advantageous to have an experienced player like Steve Smith in the squad, it remains to be seen what specific role he will play.
Ponting expressed his view that if Smith were to join the squad, he might not be included in the starting XI initially.
This assessment was based on Smith’s recent performance record, noting that he did not play in all matches during the team’s tour of New Zealand.
Ponting indicated that while he would keep Smith in the squad, he would not feature in his preferred starting eleven.
On another note, Ponting mentioned Mitchell Marsh, highlighting that Marsh would be the captain of the T20 team.
Ponting justified this decision by stating that Marsh deserved the role, citing his effective captaincy in recent matches.
