Islamabad: A captivating image capturing a diver’s descent to explore the remnants of a whale beneath the ocean’s surface has clinched the prestigious ‘Underwater Photographer of the Year 2024’ award.

Photographer Alex Dawson from Sweden secured the accolade with his striking photograph titled ‘Whalebones,’ triumphing over more than 6,500 entries worldwide.

Chairing the judging panel, Alex Mustard remarked on the extraordinary circumstances under which the photo was taken.

Amidst the stark surroundings of the Greenland ice sheet, a diver ventures into the depths, illuminated by the glow of their flashlight, resembling a space explorer encountering an otherworldly creature.
