Two terrorists killed in Cadet College Wana attack

Rawalpindi: Security forces on Monday foiled a terrorist attack on Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan, killing two assailants affiliated with an Indian-sponsored group, while a clearance operation is ongoing to neutralize three others cornered inside the college premises, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to the ISPR, the terrorists attempted to breach the college’s perimeter security, but their attack was swiftly repelled by alert troops. In a desperate move, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate, causing its collapse and damaging nearby infrastructure.
Troops engaged the intruders with precision, killing two of them on the spot, while three others managed to enter the administration block, where they have been surrounded by security personnel.

The ISPR said the attackers, belonging to an Indian proxy network, sought to replicate the barbaric tactics used in the 2014 Army Public School (APS) Peshawar attack, aiming to spread fear among students in the tribal districts who are pursuing education for a better future.
It added that the terrorists hiding inside the college were in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan, receiving instructions during the attack. “This act of barbarism orchestrated from Afghan soil contradicts claims by the Afghan Taliban regime about the absence of terrorist groups in their country,” the statement said.
The ISPR reiterated Pakistan’s right to respond against terrorists and their leadership operating from Afghanistan and affirmed that the ongoing clearance operation under the ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ counterterrorism initiative would continue until the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism is completely eradicated.
