Two minors injured by stray kite string in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi: Two minor children were injured on Thursday after being struck by a stray kite string within the jurisdiction of Chaklala police station, police officials confirmed.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani took serious notice of the incident and ordered immediate action. A case has been registered, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.

Condemning kite flying as a dangerous and unlawful activity, the CPO directed authorities to further intensify the ongoing crackdown against kite flying and its supply network to prevent such incidents in the future.
According to police data, over the past month, 346 cases have been registered against kite suppliers and individuals involved in kite flying, leading to the arrest of 397 suspects. During the operations, police recovered more than 97,000 kites and over 1,200 rolls of kite string from those taken into custody.

A Rawalpindi Police spokesperson stated that kite flying has been declared a non-bailable offence and warned that those involved in this “bloody game” would not be spared.
Police reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding citizens and vowed to continue indiscriminate action against violators to prevent further tragedies.
