Two arrested for torturing transgender in Havelian

HAVELIAN: The local police on Thursday arrested two persons for allegedly torturing a transgender near Sultanpur, Havelian.

The arrested persons have been identified as Akash alias Kashi and Asif. Both are residents of Sultanpur. The police also recovered a 30-bore pistol and 30 bullets from their possession.

The victim transgender named as Ishtiaq Ahmed alias Shahid, a resident of Haripur, told the police investigation team that the suspected persons had hired him for a programme and when he reached there to perform, Akash, Asif and their friends not only misbehaved and physical tortured him.

The police have registered a case under section 337/506/34 PPC and 15AA and further investigation was underway till the filing of this report.
