Islamabad: As Eid festivities draw near, beauty salons and mehndi stalls across the twin cities are experiencing a surge in clientele, creating an atmosphere of excitement, color, and tradition. Women of all ages are flocking to beauty parlors and henna artists to ensure they look their best for the joyous occasion.
In the frenzy of pre-Eid pampering, salons are fully booked, offering an array of treatments ranging from rejuvenating facials and elaborate bridal makeovers to intricate mehndi designs. The demand for beauty services has skyrocketed, with customers securing appointments weeks in advance to avoid the last-minute rush.
Sara Ali, a beautician at a prominent Islamabad salon, shared with APP, “Our schedule is packed, and we are even working extra hours to accommodate the rush.”
Similarly, Rozina, a beautician at a well-known beauty parlor in Rawalpindi, noted, “A lot of our customers are requesting trending makeup and hairstyle bookings before Eid. The demand for mehndi application has also doubled.”
Mehndi artists are equally overwhelmed by the surge in customers. Many have set up temporary booths in bustling marketplaces like Jinnah Super, Saddar, and Raja Bazaar, where women queue up to get their hands adorned with traditional henna patterns.
Sadaf, a mehndi artist in Islamabad, who sets up a temporary booth every Eid, expressed her excitement, “This year, we are offering all trending mehndi designs, and the response has been overwhelming. The crowd is almost double compared to last year, making this a profitable season.”
Ayesha Khan, a mehndi artist in Rawalpindi, echoed similar sentiments, “We have been working non-stop for the last few days. Customers often bring reference pictures from social media, requesting the latest designs.”
With the high demand, prices for beauty treatments and mehndi applications have surged. Salon owners attribute the increase to the rising costs of cosmetics and labor. A salon manager at F-7 explained, “Imported beauty products have become expensive, and with inflation, we have had to adjust our rates accordingly.”
Despite the price hikes, the festive spirit remains high. Many women in the twin cities consider salon visits and mehndi application an essential part of their Eid preparations.
Amina Bibi, a client at a renowned salon, emphasized, “No Eid is complete without a visit to the parlor and mehndi on both hands.”
Binish, another client from a prominent Rawalpindi parlor, added, “It’s a tradition we eagerly wait for every year.”
As the countdown to Eid continues, the vibrant buzz in beauty salons and mehndi stalls reflects the excitement and anticipation of the celebrations ahead.
