Trump, Munir Discuss Iran-Israel Crisis, Economic Ties

Islamabad: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir held a high-level meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House, according to a statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The engagement began with a luncheon in the Cabinet Room, followed by a visit to the Oval Office. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff were also in attendance.

ISPR reported that President Trump commended Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and combating terrorism. Both leaders agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in key areas including counterterrorism, trade, technology, and mineral development.

The ongoing Iran-Israel tensions were discussed in detail, with both sides underscoring the need for a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

Field Marshal Munir extended a formal invitation to President Trump to visit Pakistan. The meeting also included Pakistan’s National Security Adviser, reflecting the strategic importance of the discussions.

The Army Chief thanked President Trump for the United States’ positive role in maintaining the Pakistan-India ceasefire and acknowledged his strategic vision in addressing global challenges.

In addition to regional security, the two leaders explored opportunities for collaboration in commerce, the economy, mineral resources, artificial intelligence, energy, and cryptocurrency.

President Trump expressed a strong interest in establishing a strategic and long-term trade relationship with Pakistan. He also praised Field Marshal Munir’s decisive leadership in navigating complex regional dynamics.

Originally scheduled for one hour, the meeting extended to over two hours. ISPR described the interaction as a pivotal step in advancing the Pakistan-U.S. partnership, grounded in mutual goals of peace, stability, and prosperity.
