Rawalpindi: The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi have reopened Murree Road for all types of vehicular traffic, easing congestion and providing major relief to commuters traveling between the twin cities.

According to a CTP spokesperson, while the Faizabad Interchange remains temporarily closed, all sections of Murree Road are now fully operational, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted flow of traffic.

Traffic is also reported to be moving steadily along Mall Road, Peshawar Road, Khanna Pul, and Kuri Road, with no major bottlenecks. Similarly, movement remains normal on Jhelum Road, Kacheri Chowk, Swan Bridge, and both sides of Old Airport Road.

The spokesperson added that Adiala Road, Kalma Chowk, and Chakri Road are witnessing a consistent traffic flow. Access to motorways has also been fully restored, with the Chakri Interchange, Fateh Jang Toll Plaza, and Thalian Interchange now open for commuters. Regular movement has been observed at Chungi No. 26 and T-Chowk Rawat.

Traffic across all tehsils of Rawalpindi — including Kallar Syedan, Kotli Sattian, and Taxila — remains stable, allowing residents to travel freely within the district.

The CTP has urged commuters to stay updated via official traffic alerts and to use alternate routes near Faizabad where required. Motorists have also been advised to adhere to traffic rules, observe speed limits, and report any disruptions to the CTP helpline for immediate assistance.

Patients Stranded as Road Blockades Paralyze Twin Cities

Serious patients remained stranded on roads in Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Saturday as major highways, intersections, and streets were blocked due to ongoing protests by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers.

The blockade of key routes brought traffic to a standstill, forcing residents of the twin cities to remain confined to their homes. Ambulances and vehicles carrying patients faced severe delays as protesters continued to block main and link roads.

According to media reports, the TLP rally, which began from Lahore on Friday, has now reached Muridke. The Punjab government has deployed a heavy contingent of police to prevent protesters from advancing toward Islamabad.

It is pertinent to mention that the TLP has announced a protest demonstration outside the US Embassy in Islamabad, prompting heightened security and traffic restrictions across the twin cities.
