Toshakhana-II Verdict: Imran Khan, Wife Sentenced to 17 Years

Rawalpindi: A special court on Saturday sentenced Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years of rigorous imprisonment each in the Toshakhana-II case.
The verdict was announced by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand after the conclusion of 80 hearings conducted at Adiala Jail. The case pertains to the alleged acquisition of a high-value Bulgari jewellery set at a nominal price from the state Toshakhana.
According to the court’s judgment, both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were awarded 10 years’ imprisonment each under Section 409 of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with an additional seven years each under Section 5 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1947.
The court also imposed a combined fine of Rs16.4 million on the couple.
The Toshakhana-II reference centres on allegations of misuse of authority and corruption related to state gifts received during Imran Khan’s tenure as prime minister.
