The Story of Operation Raddul Fitna 1

News Desk

Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s security forces have successfully concluded Operation Raddul Fitna 1, a wide-ranging, intelligence-driven counterterrorism campaign that eliminated at least 216 terrorists and significantly degraded the operational capability of India-sponsored militant networks seeking to destabilise the country, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

The operation, described by the military as swift, coordinated and precise, was launched in response to a wave of brutal terrorist attacks in Balochistan, where India-backed Fitna al-Hindustan—linked to the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), targeted innocent civilians, including women and children.

According to the ISPR, the campaign involved a series of joint intelligence-based operations, clearance actions, and sanitisation drives carried out by Pakistan’s security forces and law enforcement agencies, with the full backing of intelligence services.

These efforts dismantled terrorist sleeper cells, destroyed hideouts, and disrupted command-and-control structures across multiple districts.

Coordinated Terror Attacks

The operations followed coordinated terrorist assaults on January 31 in several parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar and Pasni, where civilians were deliberately targeted in an attempt to spread fear and undermine peace and development in the province.

The attacks drew widespread international condemnation from countries and organisations including the United States, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Iran, UAE, France, Canada, the European Union, the OIC and the UN Security Council, underscoring global concern over terrorism in the region.

Intelligence-Led Response

Expanding on the operational details, the ISPR said that initial actions were launched on January 29, 2026, in Panjgur and the outskirts of Harnai district, after credible intelligence confirmed the presence of terrorists posing an imminent threat to the local population.

During this phase alone, 41 terrorists affiliated with Indian proxy networks were eliminated. As militant groups attempted desperate retaliatory attacks, security forces responded with force, triggering a broader sequence of intelligence-based operations across multiple locations in Balochistan.

“Through meticulous planning, actionable intelligence and seamless joint execution, Pakistan’s security forces responded with precision and resolve,” the ISPR said, noting that the operation dealt a decisive blow to terrorist leadership and operational networks.

Heavy Sacrifices

The ISPR acknowledged the heavy sacrifices made during the campaign, stating that 36 innocent civilians, including women and children, along with 22 personnel from security forces and law enforcement agencies, embraced martyrdom.

Paying tribute to the fallen, the military’s media wing said their courage and professionalism reflected the highest traditions of national service. “The nation honours their sacrifice and stands in solidarity with the families of all martyrs,” it added.

Leadership Reaffirms Commitment

President Asif Ali Zardari lauded the security forces for timely and effective action, saying the intelligence-based operations had thwarted nefarious designs of foreign-backed terrorists. He paid homage to the martyred civilians and personnel and offered condolences to their families.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the forces, stating that the nation would never forget the sacrifices of its martyrs. He said the deliberate targeting of civilians exposed terrorists as enemies of development and peace in Balochistan.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti termed Operation Raddul Fitna 1 a clear warning to Indian proxy networks and their sponsors. “The BLA is a nuisance obstructing Pakistan’s development at the behest of India. Pakistan will not compromise on its unity, development, or the security of its people,” he said.

Reaffirming the state’s determination, the ISPR said the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to eliminating terrorism in all its forms under the National Action Plan (NAP).

“Counterterrorism operations will continue with full determination until the complete elimination of terrorist threats,” the statement concluded.
