Suraiya Becomes 2nd Female Deputy Speaker in KP Assembly

Peshawar: An independent candidate elected from PK-1 Chitral was elected as the 22nd Deputy Speaker of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday, marking the second female to hold this position. 

Suraiya Bibi secured 87 votes out of a total of 106, while her opponent, Arbab Waseem, received 19 votes. 

Babar Swati, the Speaker of the KP assembly, administered the oath to Suraiya Bibi. It’s worth noting that Suraiya Bibi follows Mehrtaj Roghani as the second female deputy speaker of the provincial assembly.
