Suicide Attack on FC Headquarters Leaves Three Martyred

News Desk

Peshawar: Three Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel were martyred and five people injured after a suicide attack targeted the FC Headquarters in Saddar Cantonment early Sunday morning.

According to CCPO Peshawar Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed, a suicide bomber detonated himself at the main gate of the facility at 8:10 am, followed by intense gunfire as security forces engaged additional attackers who had entered the premises. The blast was powerful enough to be heard across the area.

Police, FC, and Pakistan Army commandos responded swiftly, killing two attackers inside the compound. A third attacker had blown himself up at the gate. A clearance operation is currently underway.

Dr. Mian Saeed said Sunehri Masjid Road and surrounding routes, including Saddar Road, were immediately sealed. Traffic remains suspended, and BRT service has been temporarily halted as a precaution. Citizens have been urged to cooperate with security personnel.

Inspector General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, Zulfiqar Hameed, confirmed that two suicide blasts occurred inside the FC Headquarters—one at the main gate and another at the motorcycle stand just beyond the entrance. He said the attackers were neutralized during an exchange of fire.

Deputy Commandant FC, Javed Iqbal, praised the force’s swift response, confirming that all three attackers were eliminated. He said FC personnel fought valiantly, though three embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.

President, PM Strongly Condemn Terrorist Attack

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attack carried out by Fitna al-Khawarij targeting the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar.

In their separate statements, both leaders lauded the timely and effective response of police and security forces, which they said prevented a far greater tragedy.

Terming the incident a cowardly act orchestrated by foreign-backed anti-state elements, the president and prime minister reaffirmed the government’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country.

President Zardari said, “The attack is a cowardly act by foreign-backed terrorists who are enemies of our beloved country. The complete elimination of foreign-sponsored Khawarij terrorism from Pakistan is our top priority.” He expressed deep sympathies with the families of the martyred personnel and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities to immediately identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. He also instructed that the injured be provided prompt medical treatment and prayed for their early recovery.

“We will thwart the evil designs of terrorists who attack Pakistan’s security. The Government of Pakistan is fully determined to completely eradicate terrorism from the country,” the prime minister reiterated.
