‘Sri Lankan Team’s Visit a Victory of Peace, Defeat for Terrorism’

Islamabad: Minister for Interior and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi paid a late-night visit to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements for the ongoing Pakistan–Sri Lanka cricket series.

He was accompanied by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Siriweerathne and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry. Senior officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and other law enforcement representatives, were also present.

Naqvi inspected the security measures in and around the stadium, meeting with personnel deployed at various points. He lauded their professionalism and dedication, urging them to continue discharging their duties with the same commitment and spirit.

Later, the Interior Minister met members of the Sri Lankan cricket team during their practice session and expressed gratitude for their participation in the Pakistan tour.

“Your security is our responsibility,” Naqvi assured the players. “Your continued presence in Pakistan is a victory of peace and a defeat for terrorism. The entire Pakistani nation remains indebted to your love and affection. This chapter of Pakistan–Sri Lanka friendship will be remembered forever.”

He also interacted with Pakistani players and observed their training session.

Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Siriweerathne appreciated the arrangements, saying, “I have served in several countries, but I consider Pakistan my second home. We are fully satisfied with the security measures taken for our team.”

The visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing foolproof security for international sporting events and further strengthening the bonds of friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

PCB Announces Revised Schedule for Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe Tri-Nation T20I Series

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday confirmed the revised schedule for the upcoming tri-nation T20I series featuring hosts Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe. The tournament will now be played entirely at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with the opening match set for November 18.

According to the new schedule, all seven matches, including the final, will be held under floodlights, with the first ball bowled at 6 p.m. local time.

The series will begin with a face-off between Pakistan and Zimbabwe on Tuesday, November 18. Each team will play four matches in the round-robin stage, with the top two sides advancing to the final, slated for Saturday, November 29.

18 November: Pakistan vs Zimbabwe

20 November: Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe

22 November: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka
