Spotify to introduce music videos for Premium users in US, Canada
News Desk
Islamabad: Spotify will begin rolling out music videos for its paying subscribers in the United States and Canada in the coming weeks, marking a significant expansion of the platform’s video offerings, a company spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday.
The move represents a major step for the Sweden-based audio streaming giant, whose video features have so far been largely limited to video podcasts. According to Spotify, more than 390 million users have already watched video podcast content on the platform.
“We’ll have more details to share soon,” the spokesperson said. “In our previous announcements about music videos in other markets, we announced that they were for Premium users.”
Once the feature launches, subscribers will be able to toggle between audio-only and video modes while listening to selected tracks.
Spotify’s entry into the music video space puts it in more direct competition with YouTube, which has dominated the segment for nearly two decades.
