Islamabad: Two young women lost their lives on the spot when a speeding white V8 Land Cruiser allegedly driven by a teenage motorist struck their scooter during a drifting attempt at Islamabad’s Secretariat Chowk.

An official told APP on Wednesday that the victims, 26-year-old Samreen Hussain, who was studying interior design and working with a private event management group at PNCA, and her friend Tabinda Batool, aged around 27, were returning home on a scooter when the vehicle rammed into them with immense force.

The police report states that the case was registered on the complaint of Adnan Tajammal, brother of the deceased Samreen Hussain.

He told police that his sister had left home for PNCA earlier in the day and was returning at night when the incident occurred. His written application led to the registration of FIR No. 554/25 under Sections 322, 279 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Secretariat Police Station.

The FIR notes that a white Land Cruiser bearing registration number AYE-379, allegedly being driven at high speed and performing drifting maneuvers, hit the scooter near the Secretariat metro station. Police reached the location and took the vehicle into custody, while the driver—identified as Abuzar—was stopped at the scene. He reportedly had no driving licence or identification documents at the time.

Both women were immediately shifted to PIMS Hospital by Rescue ; however, doctors confirmed that they had already succumbed to their injuries before arrival.

Investigators have recorded statements from witnesses and secured CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact sequence of events. The suspect remains detained, and legal proceedings are underway.

Islamabad Police said the investigation is progressing and assured that action will be taken strictly in accordance with law.
