Smog Season to Be Harsher This Year, Warns Expert

Islamabad: Environmental expert Dr Zainab Naeem has warned that this year’s smog season will be more severe than in previous years, calling it a looming “silent disaster.”
Speaking to a private news channel, she said Pakistan is facing the consequences of years of neglect in addressing climate change.

Dr Naeem cautioned that Punjab is expected to be the worst-affected province, adding that both Indian and Pakistani Punjab are part of a shared “air shed” highly vulnerable to smog.
She also noted that floodwater still remains in several areas, compounding environmental risks ahead of the smog season.
