Seven Soldiers Martyred in Balochistan Terror Attack
News Desk
Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a security forces check post in the Shah Mardan area of Kalat district, Balochistan, which resulted in the martyrdom of seven soldiers.
The attack highlights ongoing security challenges in the region, according to a report by the Associated Press of Pakistan.
President Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the loss, labeling the attackers as “enemies of the country” who aim to disrupt Pakistan’s progress. He praised the resilient people of Balochistan for their steadfast opposition to such violent forces.
Prime Minister Sharif offered condolences to the families of the martyred soldiers, extending his prayers for their souls. He commended the swift response of security forces, who killed six terrorists and captured four others during the attack.
The Prime Minister further directed authorities to ensure the best medical care for the wounded and ordered urgent action to apprehend those responsible. Sharif reaffirmed the government’s commitment to Balochistan’s peace, development, and prosperity, describing the attackers as “enemies of the province’s stability.”
The incident occurred on the night of November 15-16, when terrorists attempted to storm the check post. The military’s media wing confirmed that the security forces fought back courageously, killing six terrorists and injuring four.
Unfortunately, seven soldiers embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire. A sanitization operation is currently underway to neutralize any remaining terrorists in the area, as confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The outlawed Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack in an email to Reuters. This attack follows a similar escalation, with the BLA also taking credit for the November 9 suicide bombing at the Quetta railway station, which targeted passengers, including military personnel, just before they were scheduled to board a train.
The attack in Kalat underscores the growing threat posed by militant groups in Balochistan, a region that has seen increasing violence in recent months.
