Seven Militants Killed, Army Major Martyred in DI Khan

Rawalpindi/DI Khan: At least seven militants were killed while a Pakistan Army officer embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday.

According to the ISPR, security forces conducted the operation based on intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists affiliated with a banned outfit. 

During the exchange of fire, seven militants were eliminated, and weapons and ammunition were recovered from their possession.

The ISPR statement added that Major Sibtain Haider, 30, a resident of Quetta, embraced martyrdom while leading his troops from the front. “Major Sibtain fought gallantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice,” the statement said.

The slain militants were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians in the region. A sanitization operation is ongoing to clear the area of any remaining threats.

The ISPR reiterated that Pakistan’s security forces remain resolute in eliminating terrorism from the country and that sacrifices of the martyrs strengthen the nation’s resolve.

Police Officer Martyred in Attack Laid to Rest with Honours

The funeral prayer of Police Post In-Charge Ahmad Nawaz, who embraced martyrdom during a terrorist attack on the Khutti Check Post of Dera Town Police Station, was offered with official honours on Thursday.

According to police, unidentified assailants attacked the Khutti Check Post late Wednesday night. Police personnel on duty bravely retaliated, successfully repelling the assault. During the exchange of fire, Ahmad Nawaz was martyred while defending his post.

The funeral prayer was held at Ijaz Shaheed Police Lines and attended by Regional Police Officer Dera Syed Ashfaq Anwar, District Police Officer Sahibzada Sajjad Ahmad, officers from CTD, Investigation, City, and Headquarters wings, as well as members of the security forces and the martyr’s family.

A smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute to the fallen officer, while officials and attendees laid floral wreaths on the coffin and offered prayers for the elevation of his ranks in the hereafter.

Police officials paid tribute to Ahmad Nawaz’s bravery and reaffirmed their commitment to continue the fight against terrorism with full determination.
