Security Forces Foil Terror Bid, Eliminate Top Commander in Karak
News Desk
Peshawar: Militants blew up a Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Bakkakhel, Bannu, while in a separate intelligence-based operation, security forces killed a most-wanted terrorist commander in Karak district, officials said on Thursday.
According to police sources, the Bakkakhel incident occurred when militants planted and detonated explosives at the BHU, causing a powerful explosion that severely damaged the building. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the attack.
Police and security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators behind the blast. Officials strongly condemned the act, terming it an attack on public welfare and humanity, and reaffirmed their resolve to eliminate terrorism and ensure lasting peace in the region.
In a separate development, security forces achieved a major success during a joint targeted operation in Karak’s Ambiri Kalla area. The operation, conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, district police, and civilian intelligence agencies, led to the killing of Nisar Hakeem, the most-wanted commander of the outlawed group Fitna Al-Khawarij.

Official sources said the operation lasted more than four hours, during which intense exchange of fire took place. Four police personnel sustained minor injuries, while a cache of weapons and ammunition was recovered from the possession of the slain militant.
Police confirmed that Nisar Hakeem was involved in multiple inter-provincial terrorist activities and had long been on the security agencies’ wanted list.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Zulfiqar Hameed, lauded the CTD, Karak Police, and other law enforcement agencies for their successful operation.
He praised the officers’ courage and commitment, stating, “The valiant personnel of CTD, Karak Police, and other law enforcement agencies who risked their lives for the safety of the nation are our true heroes. KP Police continue to stand as a solid wall against terrorism, safeguarding the lives and property of citizens and ensuring peace across the province.”
