Schools Launch Fundraising Drive For quake Victims of Türkiye, Syria

Islamabad: All educational institutions in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) launched a massive drive to collect donations for the earthquake victims in Türkiye and Syria in response to the prime minister’s plea for support of the people of Türkiye and Syria in the wake of the devastating effects of the earthquake there.

Students pledged their dedication and desire to assist the Pakistani government in aiding those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey who lost their homes, families, and means of support. It is imperative that we all take action to support our fellow Christians in need.

To encourage students to participate in this activity, teachers and students held awareness and motivating workshops, and students and administration set up a contribution box to collect money.Earlier, Federal Directorate of Education under the Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training has instructed educational institutions to raise funds to help earthquake victims. The amount will go to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for Earthquake Victims, to generate funds for Turkiye, which was rocked by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday.

The fundraising activity started in 5 schools including Islamabad College for Girls, F-6/2 and Islamabad College for Boys G-6/3, Islamabad Model College for Girls F-7/4, Islamabad Model College for Girls F 10/2 and Islamabad Model College for Boys F- 8/4.

The deadly earthquakes that struck Turkiye and Syria have caused unending misery and anguish, with a death toll that is currently above 24,000 people. The largest natural disaster to strike the area in recent memory, with over 82,987 individuals suffering from non-fatal injuries, at least 391,000 people relocated, about 6,589 structures turned to rubble, and over 24 million people affected overall so far.
