Lahore: Scattered to moderate rain on Sunday turned the weather pleasant in the provincial capital as the Meteorological Department forecast similar conditions during the next 24 hours.

The rain started early in the morning and continued intermittently until the filing of this report, bringing relief from the recent warm spell.

According to the Met Office, thundery showers accompanied by a gentle breeze lowered the temperature to around 20°C, making the weather noticeably cooler for residents.

Officials said a westerly wave was affecting the western and upper parts of the country and was likely to persist in the upper regions until tonight.

They added that mainly dry weather was expected in most parts of the country, while partly cloudy conditions with light rain, wind and thunderstorms were likely at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

Rain brings pleasant weather but causes waterlogging in Peshawar

Intermittent rainfall in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday made the weather pleasant, but water accumulation on roads in some areas, particularly Peshawar, caused difficulties for residents and disrupted traffic flow.

According to reports, rainwater collected on several roads in the provincial capital due to inadequate drainage, creating problems for commuters and pedestrians.

Residents also complained about stagnant water in low-lying areas of the city.

Rain was also reported in Mardan, Charsadda, Swabi and Khyber districts, bringing a noticeable drop in temperature. Fasting people welcomed the change in weather, describing the cooler conditions as pleasant during Ramazan.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the next few hours.

Authorities have been directed to remain alert and ensure proper drainage arrangements in low-lying areas to prevent further inconvenience to the public.
