Islamabad: Sarah Snook, actress from Succession, recently revealed that she took inspiration from Taylor Swift while preparing for her new Broadway role, and it proved to be a successful strategy.

Snook, 37, is currently performing in The Picture of Dorian Gray on Broadway, where she plays all 26 roles in the challenging production. To prepare for this intense role, Snook had to undergo both mental and physical preparation.

When asked about her fitness routine during a recent interview with The New Yorker, Snook admitted that she borrowed some techniques from Swift. “No alcohol, no caffeine. Sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep. And I do my lines at pace on a treadmill, you know,” she shared.

The interviewer noted that the treadmill method was something Swift used to prepare for The Eras Tour, to which Snook responded, “I heard that and thought, That’s a genius idea. I’m gonna do that.”

During her 2023 Person of the Year interview with TIME Magazine, Swift discussed her rigorous training regimen for her sold-out global tour.

She began her training six months prior at Dogpound, a high-end gym in New York City, focusing on strength training, conditioning, and weights. She also practiced her entire setlist on a treadmill, running for upbeat songs and jogging or fast walking for slower tracks.

Snook’s preparation mirrors Swift’s, with both actresses benefiting from their dedication to their craft. Additionally, several of Snook’s Succession co-stars have also turned to the stage, including Jeremy Strong in An Enemy of the People, Brian Cox in A Long Day’s Journey Into Night, and Kieran Culkin in Glengarry Glen Ross.

Snook remarked, “It’s quite an amazing coincidence,” referring to her co-stars’ theatre roles. She continued, “But I think that probably comes down to casting in the first place. Kieran was in This Is Our Youth with Michael Cera before Succession; he’s great onstage. I mean, Brian Cox is, you know, a theatre beast. Going back to the theatre is really just a return to what’s fun.”

Snook will be performing on Broadway until the show’s closing on June 15.
