News Desk
Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has successfully completed its cleanliness operation ahead of Eid, ensuring that waste materials are removed from key areas such as mosques, graveyards, and other public spaces where Eid prayers will be held.
Chairman RWMC, Saqib Rafique, personally visited various parts of the city to oversee the Eid cleanliness operation. He engaged with trade bodies in areas like College Road, China Market, Bohr Bazaar, and Motti Bazaar to assess sanitation arrangements.
The efforts of RWMC received praise from the business community for their diligent work in ensuring cleanliness for Eid celebrations.
In a bid to maintain cleanliness throughout the Eid festivities, the department has decided to cancel Eid holidays for sanitary workers and officials. This decision aims to ensure that cleanliness is upheld during the entire three-day period starting from Chand Raat.
Special cleaning campaigns have been initiated around mosques and Eidgahs, with mechanical sweeping and road washing being carried out. Additionally, all graveyards in Rawalpindi and its surrounding tehsils, including Liaqat Bagh, have been cleared of waste. Lime powder has been spread around mosques, Eidgahs, and public places for further sanitation.
Chairman Saqib Rafique also urged citizens to refrain from dumping garbage and plastic bags into nullahs, drains, and open spaces, which often lead to blockages. Citizens were encouraged to register any complaints regarding cleanliness on the helpline number 1139, ensuring prompt resolution of issues.
