Ronaldo Hints at Leaving Al Nassr as Contract Nears End

Islamabad: Cristiano Ronaldo hinted on Monday that he might leave Al Nassr, stating that a “chapter is over” shortly after the Saudi Pro League concluded.

The 40-year-old Portuguese forward joined Al Nassr in 2022 from Manchester United, with his contract at the Saudi club set to expire this summer.

A special transfer window will be open from June 1-10, allowing the 32 clubs participating in the Club World Cup to sign new players.

Al Nassr is not among the teams competing in the Club World Cup, unlike their Saudi rivals Al Hilal.

Last week, FIFA president Gianni Infantino mentioned that “discussions” are underway about the possibility of Ronaldo playing in the expanded tournament in the United States, which starts on June 14.

In a cryptic social media post featuring a photo of himself in an Al Nassr jersey, Ronaldo wrote: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

Al Nassr were eliminated in the Asian Champions League semi-finals last month by Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale and finished third in the Saudi Pro League.

Ronaldo was the league’s top scorer with 24 goals.

Last year, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner said he might finish his career at Al Nassr.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s long-time rival Lionel Messi will participate in the Club World Cup with Inter Miami.

In a recent interview with YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino said: “And Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows, who knows.”
