Rescue 1122 Battles 1,704 Fires in Rawalpindi During 2025

Rawalpindi: Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi prevented losses worth Rs 2.363 billion through timely and effective emergency response to 1,704 fire incidents reported across the district during 2025, according to the organisation’s annual performance report.

District Emergency Officer (DEO) Engineer Sibghatullah, while releasing the year-ender report on Tuesday, said the fire incidents affected 111 citizens during the year. Of them, four people lost their lives, 44 sustained serious burn injuries, and 63 received minor injuries.

He stated that Rescue 1122 firefighting teams responded swiftly and professionally to all reported incidents, successfully containing fires and preventing their spread to surrounding areas. “Owing to timely firefighting operations and coordinated efforts of the district rescue administration, property worth an estimated Rs 2.363 billion was saved from potential damage,” the DEO added.

According to the report, the major causes of fire incidents included electrical short-circuiting, careless disposal of cigarettes, gas leakages, mishandling of gas cylinders, and other safety lapses.

The DEO further informed that 59 forest fire incidents were also reported in different parts of Rawalpindi district during the year. All were brought under control in time due to prompt action by Rescue 1122 firefighters, preventing large-scale environmental and property damage.

Engineer Sibghatullah said Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi continued to focus on fire prevention and preparedness, emphasizing enforcement of fire safety regulations, provision of fire safety training, and the conduct of public awareness programmes to reduce fire-related risks in the district.
