Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has lodged First Information Reports (FIRs) against three unauthorized housing schemes for operating illegally and deceiving the public, according to an official statement issued on Saturday.
On the instructions of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza, the authority’s Metropolitan Planning and Traffic Engineering (MP&TE) Directorate served a notice to the management of Faisal Town Block B1, located in Mouza Bajnial, Tehsil and District Rawalpindi.
The scheme was found to be operating without formal approval, selling plots illegally, and spreading misinformation regarding its NOC status. It was also accused of running misleading advertisements on social media platforms.
The RDA said the scheme violated multiple provisions of the Punjab Development of Cities Act, 1976 (Amended Act 2014) and the Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021.
In addition to Faisal Town Block B1, FIRs were registered against Al-Khan Enclave, Faisal Hills in Taxila, and Abdullah City in Mouza Rajar along Chakri Road. These schemes were reportedly carrying out illegal development activities beyond their approved areas, engaging in unauthorized advertising, and illegally booking plots and selling files without official sanction.
RDA had earlier approached Police Station Wahdat Colony and Wah Cantt in Taxila regarding these violations. Despite repeated notices and warnings, the developers continued to flout regulations, prompting legal action under Section 34(1)-B of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976, which categorizes such activities as criminal offenses.
DG RDA Kinza Murtaza once again appealed to the public to avoid investing in unapproved housing schemes. She advised citizens to verify the legal status of any real estate project through the RDA website or by visiting the Business Facilitation Center (BFC) before making financial commitments.
“This is crucial to safeguard your hard-earned money from fraudulent developers,” the DG emphasized.
