Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the owners of Wazir Town Housing Scheme for carrying out illegal construction in violation of building regulations.
According to an RDA spokesperson, the FIR was registered at Chaklala Police Station on the directives of RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza after the scheme’s owners continued construction despite earlier notices and the sealing of their properties.
The spokesperson said the owners were found violating approved maps and plans, carrying out construction without mandatory approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs), in contravention of the Punjab Development of Cities Act 1976 and RDA Building and Zoning Regulations 2021.
DG RDA Kinza Murtaza has instructed the Land Use and Building Control (LU&BC) Wing to take strict action against encroachments, unauthorized structures, and illegal commercial activities.
She also directed the wing to assess fees and charges for the approval of illegal buildings, commercialization, and supplementary plans to facilitate regularization within RDA’s jurisdiction.
The spokesperson added that the measures being implemented under the DG’s supervision are aimed at protecting the public and safeguarding their investments from fraudulent and illegal housing schemes.
RDA has urged citizens to act responsibly by removing encroachments voluntarily to avoid penalties and financial losses.
