Rawalpindi: Punjab’s Minister for Housing, Urban Development, and Public Health Engineering, Bilal Yasin, visited the Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi on Saturday to review ongoing development projects by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
During a meeting, the minister emphasized the need for a robust public awareness campaign to inform citizens about legal and illegal housing schemes to protect them from financial scams.
The Director General (DG) RDA briefed the minister on major projects, including the Rawalpindi Ring Road, Nullah Lai Expressway, Metro Corridor Rehabilitation, and ongoing reforms. The minister praised RDA’s efforts for timely project execution and stressed the importance of transparency.
Bilal Yasin also highlighted the provincial government’s “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative, aimed at providing interest-free loans to citizens for housing.
He revealed that 1,000 individuals had already benefited from loans under this scheme, with a target of 100,000 beneficiaries by December 2025. Loans of up to Rs. 1.5 million are being offered on easy seven-year installment plans, with no repayments required in the first three months.
Strict action was also pledged against illegal housing societies, with the minister directing RDA to take indiscriminate measures to ensure the protection of citizens’ hard-earned money.
