RCCI to Lead Exporters’ Delegation to Bangladesh

Rawalpindi: Pakistan is eyeing new economic horizons with Bangladesh as the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) announced plans to lead an exporters’ delegation to Dhaka in a bid to boost bilateral trade and explore non-traditional sectors.
With annual Pak-Bangladesh trade still hovering below $1 billion, the RCCI initiative is being seen as a major step to tap into untapped markets, foster industrial collaborations, and expand business-to-business linkages.
RCCI President Usman Shaukat, during a meeting with Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan on Thursday, underscored the delegation’s focus on diversifying exports beyond textiles to include pharmaceuticals, technology transfer, and joint ventures.
He highlighted that the visit would not only open doors for new investment opportunities but also strengthen chamber-to-chamber partnerships between the two countries.
The Commerce Minister and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries, Haroon Akhtar Khan, assured their full support for the initiative. Minister Jam Kamal Khan, who recently returned from an official visit to Bangladesh, said his engagements with Dhaka’s senior officials and business leaders had already created momentum for enhanced economic cooperation.
“This visit will build on the groundwork already laid, helping both countries to unlock new areas of trade and collaboration,” the minister emphasized.
Senior government officials and RCCI leaders, including Senior Vice President Khalid Farooq Qazi, also attended the meeting.
The planned exporters’ delegation and business opportunities conference in Dhaka are expected to pave the way for long-term industrial linkages, joint ventures, and greater regional trade integration.
