Rawalpindi’s Double Road Closed for PSL Matches

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) issued an advisory on Wednesday urging citizens to utilize alternate routes to avoid inconvenience due to the closure of Double Road for PSL matches.

Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Taimur Khan stated that a comprehensive traffic plan had been put in place to facilitate the public during the PSL cricket matches.

Over 365 traffic police officers and personnel, including seven deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), 40 inspectors, 318 traffic wardens, and traffic assistants, were assigned special duties.

Special arrangements were made by the CTP to ensure smooth traffic flow on alternative routes during the matches, including deployment of additional personnel during the movement of cricket teams.

Parking facilities were arranged at three locations: Civil Aviation Ground Shaheen Chowk, Shahbaz Sharif Park near Shaheen Chowk, and Graduate Degree College Satellite Town.

A shuttle service was also provided from these parking areas to the stadium for the convenience of cricket fans.

To keep citizens informed, awareness banners were displayed on main highways, and real-time updates were provided through official social media channels and radio station 88.6 regarding alternative routes and parking.

During the matches, Murree Road was closed from Faizabad to Double Road, with traffic from Islamabad diverted to the Motorway via Faizabad. Traffic moving towards Islamabad was directed to use 6th Road and Said Pur Road, while traffic from Ghousia Chowk was diverted to Farooq Azam Road and Kurri Road.

Stadium Road from 9th Avenue Chowk to Double Road was completely closed to traffic during the matches.

Traffic from Islamabad’s 9th Avenue was redirected to Rawalpindi via Faizabad Motorway and IJP Road through Pandora Chongi, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Pirwadhai Mor, and Chak Madad.

Traffic from Rawalpindi to Double Road 9th Avenue in Islamabad was allowed through Murree Road.
