Rawalpindi’s Dengue Tally Reaches 1,372 After 11 New Cases

Rawalpindi: The District Health Authority (DHA) Rawalpindi has urged citizens to strictly adhere to dengue standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the mosquito-borne disease, as 11 new cases were confirmed during the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally to 1,372 this year.
According to the latest data issued by the DHA, a total of 3,665 patients have been screened across hospitals in the district, with 24 currently under treatment for confirmed dengue infection.
“Our focus remains on early detection and community awareness to curb the spread,” said DHA spokesperson Dr. Waqar while talking to APP.
He said 1,361 vector surveillance teams have so far inspected over 6.2 million houses, identifying 201,903 positive for mosquito breeding sites. Similarly, 1.78 million outdoor spots were checked, with 27,858 testing positive and 229,761 larvae destroyed during the ongoing anti-dengue campaign.

To ensure compliance with SOPs, the authority has also taken punitive actions — registering 4,752 FIRs, sealing 1,910 premises, issuing 3,672 challans, and imposing fines exceeding Rs.11.35 million.
The spokesman urged citizens to keep their surroundings clean, eliminate stagnant water, and use mosquito repellents as preventive measures.
Meanwhile, on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh, Additional Deputy Commissioner-II Iqra Jannat on Monday visited the dengue ward established at the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Matiari to review preparedness.
During the visit, the health department’s focal person for dengue, Dr. Haji Muhammad Memon, briefed her that the ward was fully functional and equipped to handle any emergency situation. He said that only one dengue patient was currently admitted to the hospital.
The ADC-II inspected cleanliness, medical facilities, and staff readiness, directing officials to ensure round-the-clock monitoring of the dengue situation.
She emphasized that there should be no negligence in the treatment of dengue patients and appealed to the public to keep their homes and streets clean, eliminate stagnant water, and adopt all preventive measures to help control the disease’s spread.
