Rawalpindi Shuts Down for a Day as Heavy Rain Batters City
News Desk
Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi district administration has announced a one-day holiday due to severe weather conditions, following heavy rainfall and urban flooding across the city.
The decision was confirmed through an official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday. All public and private offices, educational institutions, and businesses were directed to suspend operations for the day to ensure public safety.
Citizens have been advised to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel during the adverse weather. The Deputy Commissioner urged residents to exercise caution and remain alert as rescue teams continue operations in affected areas.
The announcement comes in the wake of widespread rain-related disruptions across Rawalpindi and Islamabad, including flight cancellations, flooded roads, and rising water levels in local streams.
