Rawalpindi Police Stay Vigilant to Secure Pak–Sri Lanka ODI

Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Police remained on high alert on Friday to ensure foolproof security and smooth traffic flow during the second One-Day International (ODI) between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, a police spokesperson said.
City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani, along with the Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations), SSP (Investigations), the Chief Traffic Officer, and other senior officials, supervised security arrangements on the ground.
According to the spokesperson, CPO Hamdani carried out point-to-point inspections inside and around the stadium, reviewing the security plan in detail. He directed all deployed personnel to maintain round-the-clock vigilance and ensure foolproof security throughout the tri-series fixtures.

More than 5,500 police officers and personnel were deployed for security duties, while over 350 traffic officers managed traffic flow around the venue. Spectators were allowed entry only after passing through walk-through gates and undergoing full body searches.
Security measures included comprehensive CCTV surveillance of the stadium and surrounding areas, deployment of sharpshooters on rooftops along designated routes, and continuous patrolling by police teams, the Dolphin Force, and the Elite Force.
CPO Hamdani said the Rawalpindi Police, in coordination with the Pakistan Army, Rangers, district administration, and other security agencies, had implemented extensive arrangements to ensure a secure and facilitative environment for cricket fans and visiting teams.
Minister for Interior and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi paid a late-night visit to the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium to review security arrangements for the ongoing Pakistan–Sri Lanka cricket series.
He was accompanied by Sri Lankan High Commissioner Fred Siriweerathne and Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry. Senior officials, including the Chief Commissioner of Islamabad, Commissioner Rawalpindi, Inspector General of Islamabad Police, and other law enforcement representatives, were also present.
Naqvi inspected the security measures in and around the stadium, meeting with personnel deployed at various points. He lauded their professionalism and dedication, urging them to continue discharging their duties with the same commitment and spirit.
