Islamabad: Multiple tragic incidents across the country on Saturday left several people dead and others injured in building collapses, accidents, and violent attacks, according to rescue and police officials.
In Peshawar, one person was killed and five others injured when part of an old building collapsed in Saddar Bazaar near the General Post Office (GPO).
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi said six people were trapped under the rubble, but were swiftly pulled out by emergency teams. The injured were provided first aid on the spot before being shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, where two remain in critical condition.
In Dadu’s Mehar tehsil, a woman and her three-year-old daughter died when a wall of their house in village Abdul Ghani Chandio collapsed. Rescue officials said the wall had been weakened due to pressure from river water.
Family members added that only one wall remained after household belongings were removed, which suddenly gave way, causing the fatal accident.
Meanwhile, in Faisalabad, torrential rain caused a roof collapse that killed a 40-year-old woman, Kauser, and her three-year-old daughter.

Eight other family members sustained critical injuries. Rescue officials confirmed that the prolonged heavy downpour had weakened the house structure.
Police and emergency services carried out a prompt operation to shift the injured to hospital, while investigations continue into the extent to which weather and building condition contributed to the tragedy.
In Karachi, a five-year-old boy, Azlan, lost his life in a road accident in the SITE area. According to SITE-A SHO Imran Afridi, the child was traveling on a motorcycle with his parents when he fell onto the road.
A water tanker coming from behind ran over him, killing him instantly. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed confirmed fatal head and body injuries. Police arrested the tanker driver for negligence and seized the vehicle.
Separately in Karachi, two people were killed in incidents of violence. Police recovered the body of a young man, identified as Irteza Ali, from a house near Drigh Road.
He had reportedly contracted a love marriage and was visiting his in-laws. Police suspect the killing may be linked to an ‘honour crime’, though investigations are ongoing.
In another case, unidentified assailants stabbed 40-year-old Waheedullah to death in Janjal Goth along the Super Highway. Initial inquiries suggest the murder stemmed from personal enmity. Police have registered cases and launched investigations.
Authorities have urged citizens to exercise caution during the ongoing rainy spell and appealed for community cooperation in preventing avoidable tragedies.
