Islamabad: Residents of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi breathed a collective sigh of relief on Saturday as rain showers ended the prolonged heatwave, prompting citizens to flock to recreational spots and flood social media with expressions of joy and gratitude.
The rainfall brought much-needed respite from the intense heat that had gripped the region for weeks, disrupting daily routines and forcing many to remain indoors.
As the rain swept through the cities, jubilant residents were seen celebrating in streets, parks, and public spaces, taking full advantage of the cooler temperatures. The change in weather also breathed new life into the city’s landscape, with trees and plants looking visibly refreshed after the dry spell.
Social media platforms were soon abuzz with photos, videos, and messages from citizens expressing their delight. “I’m so relieved that the heatwave is over. I was getting tired of staying indoors all the time. The rain has brought new life to the city,” one Islamabad resident commented.
Another local shared, “The rain was a blessing. I took my kids to the park and we had a great time playing in the rain. It is a welcome change.”
Residents described the rain as rejuvenating and uplifting. “The rain has made the city feel fresh and clean. It is a great way to spend the weekend—watching the rain and spending time with loved ones,” said another.
Taha Malik, a resident, added, “This weekend could not be any better. The rain has brought a much-needed break from the heat, and I’m making the most of it. Time to relax and recharge!”
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a weather advisory, urging residents, particularly those in storm-prone areas, to remain vigilant. Motorists were advised to park vehicles in safe locations and follow safety guidelines during potential thunderstorms.
The rain not only marked the end of the heatwave but also ushered in a renewed sense of energy and relief among residents eager to enjoy the outdoors once again.
