Putin Invites PM Shehbaz for Official Visit to Russia

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said Pakistan attached immense importance to its relations with Russia, noting that both countries shared similar approaches on various global platforms.
The prime minister met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing, China, the PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
Both leaders acknowledged that the relationship was marked by mutual trust, respect, and warmth.
The prime minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Russia in diverse areas including trade connectivity, energy, agriculture, investment, defence, artificial intelligence, education, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.
He also emphasized the importance of regular engagement through established institutional mechanisms.

Highlighting tangible initiatives, the premier said projects such as the proposed Pakistan Steel Mills in Karachi and investment in connectivity schemes would stand as symbols of Pakistan-Russia friendship for future generations.
Recalling their last meeting in Astana in 2024, both leaders expressed satisfaction over the expanding cooperation and growing momentum in ties over the past year.
President Putin endorsed the prime minister’s assessment and noted the upward trajectory of relations, stressing the significance of collaboration within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to promote regional and global security.
He reiterated Russia’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with Pakistan across a wide spectrum of areas.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in South Asia, Afghanistan, the Middle East, and the Ukraine conflict. They discussed cooperation at multilateral forums and longstanding global issues such as Palestine and Kashmir.
President Putin extended a cordial invitation to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to undertake an official visit to Russia.
