Lahore: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has announced a major step toward improving the education system in the province by approving the appointment of headmasters in 35,000 government schools.

In a directive issued to the School Education Department, the minister underscored the importance of filling long-standing vacancies in key leadership positions. The move marks the first time in years that permanent headmasters will be appointed to these schools.

As part of the initiative, each appointed headmaster will receive an additional monthly allowance of Rs 10,000.

Highlighting the significance of the decision, Rana Sikandar Hayat said the absence of permanent leadership had severely impacted the quality of education across government schools.

“The appointment of permanent headmasters will not only enhance administrative control but also raise overall educational standards,” he noted.

The minister directed education authorities to expedite the recruitment process to ensure schools receive competent and effective leadership without further delays.
