Lahore:  The Punjab government has reportedly withdrawn official security provided to the sons of former prime minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, sources said on Monday.

According to official sources, security personnel assigned to Ali Haider Gilani and his brothers have been recalled, prompting serious concern within the PPP leadership over the timing and implications of the decision.

Ali Haider Gilani, who was kidnapped in 2013 and remained in captivity for several years before being rescued, voiced strong reservations over the move.

“I have been a target of terrorism for many years, and my life remains at risk,” he said, terming the government’s decision “extremely irresponsible.”

PPP leaders also condemned the withdrawal of security, calling it a reckless step that ignored the family’s past security threats and the continuing risks they face.
