Abbottabad: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa City Improvement Project, intended to upgrade Abbottabad’s urban infrastructure, has been marred by severe mismanagement and irregularities, with projects exceeding Rs 12 billion facing widespread criticism.

Reports suggest that influential officials have employed delaying tactics and a “run forward, leave behind” approach, causing significant public distress.

Negligence is particularly evident in the installation of pipelines in Malikpura and other adjoining areas, as well as in the city center. Excavated roads remain unrepaired, leading to prolonged road closures, incomplete construction, and heaps of debris, which have made commuting and traffic management extremely difficult for residents.

The project contractor has come under fire for failing to clear debris and properly repave roads after excavation at key locations, including Link Road, Aram Bagh, and Main Bazaar. The situation has worsened following recent rainfall, further exacerbating public inconvenience.

Frustrated residents have called upon Assembly Members, including Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sanaullah, and KP City Improvement Project officials to take immediate action. They have demanded strict measures against the contractor and swift completion of the project to restore normalcy in the affected areas.

Authorities have been urged to address the mismanagement and ensure accountability, prioritizing public welfare over bureaucratic inefficiencies.
