PTI Sit-In Ends, KP CM Afridi Warns of New Protests

Islamabad: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Friday concluded a 16-hour sit-in on Adiala Road after authorities allegedly failed to provide any information about the condition of jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to reporters at the Gorkhpur checkpoint, Afridi said PTI workers had remained at the protest site throughout the night.
“We spent the night here together — and this was only one night,” he remarked. “If we have to stay here our entire lives for our leader, we will do it.”
The chief minister said officials had still not informed him about Imran Khan’s well-being and reiterated that PTI would not withdraw its demands. “We will not retreat from our protests and sit-ins,” he said.
Afridi claimed he had exhausted “all constitutional and legal options” to seek a meeting with Imran Khan, but authorities continued to deny access. “Despite a court order, neither I nor other party leaders were allowed to meet him,” he added.

Criticising the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government, he said those previously living in London were allowed to meet “groups of 50 people at a time in jail,” questioning why PTI leaders were being denied similar access.
Following the conclusion of the sit-in, Afridi headed to Islamabad, where he was expected to file a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking permission to meet the PTI founder. He also announced plans to meet the chief justice of the IHC, warning that failure to enforce court directives amounted to “the rule of the jungle.”
PTI and allied leaders, including Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) head Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Mishal Yousufzai, Senator Gurdeep Singh, Senator Rubina Naz, and MNA Zulfiqar Ahmed, joined the protest.
Achakzai said Afridi had arrived in Rawalpindi believing he would be granted a meeting with Imran Khan, especially after securing a court order. “He thought, as a constitutional representative of a federating unit, he would be given access,” Achakzai noted. “But he has now realised that those in charge do not respect democratic norms or the language of honour.”
The PTI-led sit-in — held at the Gorakhpur checkpoint on Adiala Jail Road — began Thursday after party leaders were denied a scheduled meeting with their incarcerated leader. In put from Geo News website.
