Lahore: Prosecutor General Punjab Syed Farhad Ali Shah has taken serious notice of a disturbing case involving the alleged rape of a six-year-old girl by a janitor at a private school in Lahore.

Declaring the incident a “high-profile” case, he summoned the investigating officer under Section 3(10) of the Punjab Prosecution Service Act 2006 to review progress.

The investigation officer, Sub-Inspector Sadaf, reported that the suspect is in custody under a five-day physical remand.

The prosecutor general instructed the immediate recording of the victim’s statement via video link under the Anti-Rape Act 2021 and mandated a formal assessment of the child’s age.

He also called for a comprehensive investigation with DNA, potency, and polygraph tests for the suspect.

Emphasizing the state’s responsibility to protect victims’ dignity, he urged strict adherence to the Anti-Rape Act 2021 and the Witness Protection Act 2018, directing the District Public Prosecutor of Lahore to prioritize victims’ privacy in court proceedings.
