President Zardari, PM Shehbaz Express Grief Over Pope Francis’ Demise

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church, lauding his lifelong commitment to peace, interfaith harmony, and humanity.
In separate condolence messages, both leaders paid glowing tributes to the Pope’s legacy, remembering him as a global symbol of compassion, tolerance, and justice.
President Zardari, extending condolences on behalf of the people and government of Pakistan to the Vatican and the global Catholic community, said Pope Francis would be remembered for his unwavering efforts in promoting peaceful coexistence, interfaith dialogue, and the well-being of marginalized communities around the world.
“Pope Francis was a powerful voice for peace and justice. His legacy will live on through his tireless efforts to bring together communities of different faiths and promote mutual understanding,” the president said. “His passing is a great loss not only for Christians but for all who value peace and dialogue.”
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed similar sentiments, describing the Pope as a beacon of interfaith harmony and humanity. He highlighted the Pope’s global influence in spreading messages of love, affection, and mutual respect across religions.
“Late Pope Francis was a symbol of interfaith harmony, peace, and humanity,” the prime minister stated. “His Easter message calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and Palestine and an end to human rights violations reflects his peace-loving personality and deep concern for the oppressed.”
He said the Pope’s death was an irreparable loss to the world, particularly for the global Christian community. “On behalf of the people and government of Pakistan, I extend heartfelt condolences to Vatican City, Christians across the globe, and his countless followers.”
