President, PM Condemn Lakki Marwat and Bannu Firing Incidents

Islamabad/Lahore: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday expressed deep grief over the martyrdom of police personnel in separate firing incidents in Lakki Marwat and Bannu, paying tribute to their sacrifices in the line of duty.

In separate statements, President Zardari conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and saluted the supreme sacrifices of the martyred police officials.

 He prayed for the elevation of the ranks of the martyrs and for patience and fortitude for their families, highlighting that the services of police and security forces in maintaining peace and public order are a source of national pride.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives, particularly in the Lakki Marwat firing incident. 

He offered prayers for the high ranks of the martyred personnel and extended condolences to their families, reaffirming the government’s resolve to support law enforcement agencies in safeguarding citizens.

Both leaders underscored the nation’s solidarity with the families of the martyrs and reiterated the commitment to honor police personnel who lay down their lives in the fight against violence and terrorism.

Interior Minister Condemns Attack

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the firing on traffic police in the Sarai Naurang area of Lakki Marwat.

In a statement, he paid rich tribute to Traffic In-Charge Jalal Khan and Constables Azizullah and Abdullah, who attained martyrdom while performing their duties with courage and dedication.

The minister expressed heartfelt sympathy for the families of the fallen officers, emphasizing that the government stands shoulder-to-shoulder with them in this difficult time.

Three Traffic Cops Among Four Martyred in Lakki, Bannu Attacks

At least four police officials were martyred in separate firing incidents in Lakki Marwat and Bannu, police said on Sunday.

In Lakki Marwat’s Sarai Naurang city, unidentified gunmen on motorcycles opened fire, killing three traffic police officers on duty. The slain officers were identified as In-Charge Naurang Jalal Khan, Constable Azizullah, and Constable Abdullah. The attackers fled the scene.

In a separate incident in Bannu’s Mandan area, Constable Rasheed Khan was shot dead while en route from his home to the police station. The assailants remain at large.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of the officers and requested a report from senior officials. 

He called the martyrs national heroes, assuring that their sacrifices will not be forgotten, and prayed for their posthumous promotion and strength for their families and colleagues.
